Data Visualization

A experimentation with code.

I was lucky enough to be asked to create a few data experiments for a Creative Agency in Vancouver. The idea was to examine numbers and boring data charts and turn them into eye catching data visualizations that not only translated data but leave the viewer with a surprising and unexpected visual experience. Information is beautiful!

Over the past few months I have had the fortunate opportunity to work on an ipad application that focuses on data and data translation. The idea behind this project stems from this question: How can we change the way people view poverty and the information behind it? The solution: To focus our attention towards the methods of positive psychology. But most importantly to focus on cognitive behavior via data analysis. Special thanks to the wonderful folks who provide source code as a learning tool and allowing others the opportunity to experiment with it. Thank you Nancy Wu & Graeme S. for your help and guidance throughout the duration of this project.

Skeletal Systems

Skeletal Systems is a mixed media exploration of both the human and animal skeletal systems. The images are meant to bring out the emotional value of each bone structure providing the viewer with an abstract take on the inner workings of the body. This is a personal project that co insides with the illustration series OF Flesh and Bone.

Bazaar: Food Markets from Around The World is a cook book series that explores a variety of recipes and cooking techniques as well as cultural traditions. The cookbook series is based upon food markets located in Thailand, Bali, and Spain.

OF Flesh & Bone

Illustration Series.

The title of the series “Of Flesh & Bone” simply states that no matter who we are or what we are, we as human beings are built the same. We have all gone through moments of happiness, of loss, of despair and of triumph. It is said that what we truly desire in life in happiness. But only through pain can we begin to understand what happiness really is and allow our selves to feel it without hesitation.
